Committees

PSALA is a completely volunteer-run organization.  We could not accomplish what we do without the generosity of our members.  Read more to learn what our hard-working committees do, and if you are interested in joining one, please email our president and let her know!

Community Service

PSALA's Community Service Committee is a very active committee that works to provide visibility for the Chapter through organized participation in community service. As members of PSALA, our mission, in part, is to (1) support the diverse community in which we live and to work through our members’ collective time, talents and contributions; (2) to provide Chapter members with opportunities to reach out to others; and (3) to lead by example, encouraging our local organizations to increase their volunteer efforts in the community.  Each year we interview and select an organization with which we will partner to organize various fundraising events and projects throughout the year.

Managing Partners Dinner

The Managing Partners Dinner Committee is chaired by our Chapter's President-Elect and meets monthly to plan this annual dinner to which our managing partners are invited.  This is typically our largest event of the year and includes a silent auction to benefit one of our community service partner organizations.  Previous speakers at this event have included film actor Tom Skerritt (of Top Gun fame), John McKay, former U.S. Attorney for Washington, Christine Gregoire, and Dan Wilson, formerly of the Seattle Mariners.

This is a fun committee and a great way to get your feet wet within the Chapter and get to know some of your colleagues better.

Compensation Survey

Through the publication of an annual survey, the Compensation & Benefits Survey Committee provides the membership with current local compensation and benefits information for positions in the legal profession.

Diversity

PSALA embraces and encourages diversity within the legal profession. We value diversity and those initiatives that promote it and look to partner with affiliated professional legal organizations to advance diversity. We not only strive to raise awareness, but to increase our sensitivity in the area of diversity and more closely reflect the diversity of our community at large. Having a more inclusive and diverse legal community will improve the quality of our organization’s workforce and respond to our clients’ requirements for diversity. As a committee, we are very interested in your thoughts, comments, and suggestions about achieving greater diversity in our Chapter, our profession, and in our firms.

Business Partner Committee

A fun and busy group, the Business Partner Committee is responsible for managing our Chapter’s Sponsorship structure, coordinating marketing and educational activities for our Business Partners in the vendor community, and ultimately for generating operating funds for the Chapter.

We meet on a monthly basis to stay on top of upcoming events, discuss ideas for the future, and deal with any Business Partner related issues that may be relevant at that particular point in time.  Most members of the BPC are appointed as “Business Partner Buddies,” such that they work closely with specific Business Partners to ensure that they get the most out of their Sponsorship benefits each year.

Visibility

The Visibility Committee is a collaborative effort of Chapter members to enhance visibility of PSALA and ALA within the local legal industry and the local community at-large.
